So this is my 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ, and I want to do a quick video to talk about a feature of this Tahoe
0:07
that a lot of other SUVs have and not everybody is aware as to why they exist
0:11
So this is a rear wiper on the Tahoe. A lot of SUVs that have the flat rear ends have a rear wiper
0:18
However, you won't see the same on pickup trucks, sedans, and other sleek coupe-like SUVs
0:23
So why is that? And it really comes down to aerodynamics. So what happens on an SUV like this is the airflow goes up and over the roof and then keeps going
0:33
However, that causes a dead air space right here that picks up dirt on the back and brings it up and onto the back of the SUV
0:41
Whereas other coupe-like SUVs, sedans, make it so that the air goes up and then it actually flows down the rear window
0:47
so it doesn't collect things like snow, dust, and other grime on the road
0:51
In the meanwhile, things like pickup trucks have the bed in the back so it actually flows straight over
0:55
but doesn't have a chance to pick up stuff from the back. And that is why you find rear wipers only on SUVs like this that have a really flat back
