One of the biggest concerns of any electric vehicle buyer will likely be its range. Once you are out of electricity, you are stuck on the side of the road without a way to get home. Thankfully, some manufacturers are starting to build electric SUVs that have an extensive range, meaning you don’t have to worry about range (quite so much anyways).

With that said, here are the electric SUVs on the market that have the longest range, and all have over 300 miles at that!

1. Tesla Model X

The Model X has been around since 2015 now and has had quite a few upgrades over the years! With its signature gullwing doors, it’s a hard SUV to miss in the parking lot.

It also has topped the list of electric vehicles with the longest range at 348 miles on a single charge! If you are willing to pay the price, you can even opt for the Model X Plaid, which offers over 1000 horsepower, and a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds (not too bad for an SUV that weighs almost 3 tons).

2. Tesla Model Y

If the price tag, and size of the Model X isn’t quite for you, the Tesla Model Y might be the better option for you, and thankfully it has the second-best range of up to 330 miles on a charge. The Model Y is the most sold model in Tesla’s lineup, and shares tons of the same features and body panels as the sedan version, the Model 3.

3. BMW iX

The BMW iX is the company’s first attempt at a fully electric SUV, and it is doing it with quite a splash. This SUV (that has 324 miles of range) has some impressive features such as 610 (up to) horsepower, massive interior screens, and a polarizing exterior appearance. You can even get up to 90 miles of charge, in just 10 minutes at a fast charge station.

4. Rivian R1S

This electric SUV stands out as one of my favorites on the market today and even compared to its gas rivals. The R1S is capable, luxurious, and has plenty of ground clearance to keep you going off-road. It also offers a respectable 321 miles of range on a charge, which should get you out into the woods and back without an issue.

5. Chevrolet Blazer EV

Alright, so this isn’t out quite yet, however that doesn’t stop us from looking forward to its arrival on the roads. The Blazer EV offers a reasonable value, in quality, range and usability. Not to mention it is going to have a 4-second 0 to 60 miles per hour, and 557 horsepower, both of which are quite healthy, considering the non-electric version of the Blazer. With a range of up to 320 miles, this soon-to-be SUV easily made this list.

6. Ford Mustang Mach-E

It is easy to see why the Mustang Mach-E is quickly becoming one of the most popular electric vehicles on the road today. It mixes its Mustang styling, with SUV usability, and a range of trims to fit budgets, and how much fun you want to have with this crossover. This SUV maxes out at 312 miles of range, but don’t expect that range out of the performance GT trim that gets up to 459 horsepower and AWD.

7. Kia EV6

I have been overly impressed with the vehicles that Kia is pushing out right now, and the EV6 stands near the top of that list! With a range of 310 miles, 576 horsepower (taking it to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds), and the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes makes this a compelling option.

8. Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV

At a price tag in the six figures, the EQS SUV from Mercedes is impressive. It offers AWD, plenty of screens, three-row seating, and an incredibly luxurious experience for those willing to pay the price tag. You can choose from plenty of trim levels, ranging by about $20,000 depending on which one you choose.

9. Polestar 3

Range: 300
MSRP: $83,900

You may not have heard of this company yet, however, you probably have heard of its parent company Volvo. With an emphasis on safety, the more luxurious and electric brand Polestar promises to be one of the best on the market. The Polestar 3 can achieve up to 300 miles of range, however, it also has a range-topping price for that as well.

Why are there so few electric SUVs with a range of 300 miles?

You will be surprised to find that an electric vehicle, much less an electric SUV with a range of over 300 miles is a new category. SUVs are incredibly heavy and have to be able to hold a lot of people and cargo, leaving range a difficult thing to achieve. That said, this list continues to grow as manufacturers continue to release new SUVs, and update existing ones with better software, larger battery packs, and more optimized designs.

Electric vehicles are still in their infancy, even if you see them in every automotive commercial out there. Over time, we will be seeing more and more on the roads.

Conclusion

As of right now, there are not many electric SUVs with long ranges, however, the nine on this list get you over the much-needed 300 miles of range on a single charge.

Now, which one would I get? I would purchase the Rivian R1S, this is an incredibly versatile SUV with a lot of ground clearance, incredible capability, and sports car-like speed. It is a fantastic all-around vehicle.
