What Trucks weigh over 5,000 pounds?
Our Favorite: Ford Maverick
The all-new Ford Maverick is a compact pickup truck that’s big on utility and comfort. Thanks to its unibody construction and independent suspension, the Maverick rides smoothly and handles confidently on the road.
But it’s also capable of serious off-road adventures, with optional four-wheel drive and a class-leading ground clearance of 9.4 inches (with the Tremor trim). When it comes to hauling and towing, the Maverick has plenty of muscle, thanks to its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.
And with a max payload capacity of over 1,500 pounds and a max towing capacity of 4,000 pounds, the Maverick is ready for anything. From hauling lumber for a home improvement project to taking the boat (a smaller one) out for a weekend getaway, the Maverick has you covered.

What Electric Vehicles Weigh Over 5,000 pounds?
Our Favorite: Hyundai Ioniq 5
Hyundai has been building some of my favorite cars on the market today, and that is no different with the Ioniq 5. This vehicle sits at 5,357 pounds (GVWR), but is one unique vehicle that is set apart on the roads.
This is a completely electric vehicle with a range of 303 miles, has up to 320 horsepower, and is extremly roomy inside.
Don’t be fooled by its proportions, this isn’t a hatchback car, and is actually an SUV with the proportions of a smaller vehicle. We really like the styling of the Ioniq 5, and is well worth checking out.

What does GVWR mean?
GVWR stands for Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. This is the maximum weight that a vehicle is rated to carry by the manufacturer. This includes the weight of the vehicle itself, as well as any passengers, cargo, or trailer tongue weight. The GVWR is typically printed on a sticker inside the driver’s door.
It is important to know the GVWR of your vehicle in order to avoid overloading it and damaging the tires (make sure to rotate these by the way), suspension, or engine. When packing your vehicle for a trip, be sure to check the GVWR and leave room for any additional weight that may be added along the way.
What is the heaviest vehicle on the market?
The GMC Sierra 3500HD is the heaviest production vehicle on the market today. It has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 13,200 pounds, making it nearly 3,000 pounds heavier than the next heaviest truck. The 3500HD also has the largest cargo box of any Sierra model, with a volume of 83.5 cubic feet.
And if that’s not enough, it can also tow up to 23,300 pounds when properly equipped. But the 3500HD is more than just a brute force workhorse; it also comes standard with features like heated front seats, a Bose premium audio system, and an 8-inch touch screen display.
It’s clear that the GMC Sierra 3500HD is built for those who need serious capacity without sacrificing comfort or convenience.
Why are some vehicles missing from this list?
To make this article, we researched every single vehicle on the market in the USA today, however, we were unable to locate some vehicle’s GVWR that might have been able to qualify for this list. We only like to give you the best information possible, and due to that lack of info they may not have been included here.
Conclusion
There are a variety of vehicles that weigh over 5,000 pounds. From sedans to SUVs, vans to trucks, there is a vehicle for everyone. So what are you waiting for, which one are you going to choose?
